Samir Sharifov, chair of the Organizing Committee for the U-15 World Cup and festival, welcomed participants on behalf of the National Organizing Committee.
“It is a special honor for me to welcome you all to FIFA’s first World Cup and festival for boys under 15,” Sharifov said.
He said Azerbaijan was proud to host the first World Cup bringing together national teams from 189 countries. According to Sharifov, young footballers from around the world had earned the honor of representing their countries at the tournament.
“We highly value FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s forward-looking initiative, as well as the confidence he has shown in Azerbaijan,” he added.

On October 22, AFFA President Rovshan Najaf said Azerbaijan was ready to host the FIFA U-15 World Cup and festival.
