According to information provided to "Operative Information Center-OMM" by the Milli Majlis, the meeting highlighted that despite the geographical distance, Azerbaijan and Cambodia remain friendly nations. Both sides noted that the existing positive political dialogue creates significant opportunities for further expanding cooperation across various sectors.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the mutual support between Azerbaijan and Cambodia within the framework of the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international organizations, as well as the effective cooperation established between the two nations.

During the conversation, the role of parliaments in deepening bilateral relations was emphasized. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova recalled her official visit to Cambodia and her meetings with the country's Prime Minister, as well as the heads of the National Assembly and the Senate. She underscored the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Milli Majlis and the National Assembly of Cambodia. The significance of reciprocal visits by deputies and the participation of representatives from both sides in events held in Azerbaijan and Cambodia were also noted. The Speaker stressed the importance of cooperation within international parliamentary organizations, particularly the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

Thun Vathana conveyed the greetings of the President of the Cambodian Senate, Hun Sen, to the Speaker of the Milli Majlis. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova requested that her greetings be conveyed to the Senate President in return.

The guest noted that his country attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan in many areas, including within the parliamentary framework. In this context, he highlighted the role of reciprocal visits and the cooperation between the friendship groups operating in the parliaments of both countries.

The meeting noted that this visit is taking place for the purpose of participating in the international conference on "Regional Contribution to Global Security: Peacebuilding in the South Caucasus," which will be held by the New Azerbaijan Party in Shusha. The cooperation between the political parties of the two countries was also positively assessed. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stated that the guests participating in the event would have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the massive reconstruction works underway in Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, during their visit. She provided the guest with information regarding the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani lands and their subsequent liberation.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.

Context: Azerbaijan and Cambodia have been actively strengthening their diplomatic and parliamentary ties in recent years. This cooperation is largely facilitated by their shared membership in the Non-Aligned Movement, where Azerbaijan has played a leading role in promoting multilateralism and international solidarity. Such high-level parliamentary exchanges are crucial for fostering deeper political understanding and economic partnership between the two nations.
