Sabah football club has become the first team in the last nine seasons to win the Azerbaijan Cup in two consecutive years. The Masazir representative achieved this feat by successfully defending their title in the final match of the tournament.
The Professional Football League (PFL) provided this information to the Operative Information Center-OMM. According to official statistics, the last club to achieve a similar streak was Garabagh, based in Aghdam, which won the trophy for three consecutive seasons between 2014 and 2017.
Historically, only a few clubs have managed to defend the Azerbaijan Cup title. Neftchi achieved back-to-back victories twice (1994-1996 and 2012-2014), while Kapaz (1996-1998) and Khazar Lankaran (2006-2008) also reached this milestone. The Azerbaijan Cup, organized since 1992, remains one of the most prestigious domestic football competitions in Azerbaijan, granting the winner a spot in European club competitions. Sabah's recent dominance reflects the growing competitiveness and investment in football infrastructure across the Republic of Azerbaijan.
