“Ryanair” is considering a temporary wage freeze for staff to help cover a sharp rise in fuel costs following the US-Israel war with Iran, according to the BBC.
The airline said it expects fuel prices to remain high “well into 2027” unless there is a “swift resolution” to the conflict.
“Ryanair” forecast that its fuel bill would be €2bn (£1.6bn) higher in the short term. It also expects European airfares to rise to help cover the extra cost.
The airline said fare increases were unlikely to be enough and that it was considering a range of measures, including “temporary pay freezes”.
The BBC said it had contacted Unite, the union representing “Ryanair” employees, for comment.
