A freight train consisting of eight wagons carrying Russian wheat destined for Armenia has passed through the Bilajari station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. The shipment, weighing 560 tons, was transported through Azerbaijani territory and subsequently dispatched toward the Boyuk Kasik direction.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this transit operation is part of ongoing logistics arrangements facilitating the movement of goods between Russia and Armenia via Azerbaijan.
To date, the volume of goods transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan includes over 42,000 tons of grain, approximately 9,000 tons of fertilizers, 1,136 tons of propane, 133 tons of aluminum, 1,114 tons of coal, and 67,000 tons of timber. Additionally, approximately 15,000 tons of diesel fuel and nearly 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline have been exported from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
The use of Azerbaijani transit routes for regional trade highlights the country's strategic position as a critical logistics hub in the South Caucasus. By facilitating these shipments, Azerbaijan continues to play a pivotal role in regional connectivity, adhering to established transit protocols that support economic interaction and supply chain stability in the region.
