Russian air defense forces have successfully intercepted and destroyed seven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that were targeting the Moscow region, according to official reports.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the incident via his official channels.
“Air defense units from the Ministry of Defense have thwarted an attack by seven UAVs. Specialists from emergency services are currently working at the sites where the debris has fallen,” Sobyanin stated. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant infrastructure damage resulting from the attempted strikes.
The Moscow region has frequently been the target of drone attacks since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine. Russian authorities typically deploy extensive air defense networks, including Pantsir-S1 and S-400 systems, to protect critical infrastructure and residential areas in the capital from such aerial threats.
