Real Madrid defender Raul Asensio will undergo surgery for a stress fracture in the tibia of his right leg, the Madrid club’s official website reported.
According to Marca, the 22-year-old footballer could face a recovery period of two to four months. As a result, Asensio may miss a significant part of the season.
Surgery was first considered at the end of last season. Various specialized procedures and conservative treatment aimed at reducing the load on the injured area and speeding up rehabilitation failed to produce the expected results.
The problem worsened again in August after the player recovered from another muscle injury. Real Madrid subsequently concluded that the defender required surgical intervention.
