Rashad Nabiyev, president of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, congratulated the judokas who won a record seven medals in the individual events at the world championships in Baku.
In a post on the social media platform X, Nabiyev said Ushangi Kokauri had won silver and Kenan Nasibov bronze. With those results, Azerbaijan’s team finished the individual events with seven medals, he said. The federation president wished the athletes success in the mixed team event.
Azerbaijan’s team won one gold, two silver and four bronze medals in the individual events. Ahmad Yusifov became world champion in the 60-kilogram category. Zelim Tchkaev (81 kg) and Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg) won silver, while Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg), Omar Rajabli (81 kg), Murad Fatayev (90 kg) and Kenan Nasibov (+100 kg) took bronze.
The world championships, held at the National Gymnastics Arena, will conclude with the mixed team event on October 11.
