Family members of Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration, have been questioned as witnesses alongside several other people as part of the investigation into the criminal case against him.

“Operative Information Center-OMM”, citing Gununsesi.info, reports that a specific statement by R. Mehdiyev’s son, Timur Mehdiyev, concerning the crimes his father is accused of has become known.

T. Mehdiyev told investigators that his father suffered from several illnesses and had memory impairment.

“My father is sometimes unaware of his own actions and behaviour. He was not aware of what he was saying or what actions he was taking. Therefore, I have no specific information on any matter,” Mehdiyev’s son said.

It should be recalled that R. Mehdiyev faces charges related to three serious crimes.

He has been charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code — actions aimed at seizing state power unlawfully or forcibly changing the constitutional order of the state; Article 274 — treason; and Article 193-1.3.2 — legalization of property obtained through criminal means, or money laundering.

The former head of the Presidential Administration is currently on trial at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
