Rain, hail and sleet expected in Azerbaijan

Intermittent rain is expected in some parts of Azerbaijan from the evening of Sept. 28 through daytime Sept. 30, beginning in the country’s western districts.

The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed of this by the National Hydrometeorological Service.

In some areas, the rain may be short-lived but intense, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Sleet is possible in high mountainous areas during the night of Sept. 29.

The expected precipitation may increase water levels in rivers. Short-term flooding and flash floods are possible on some rivers in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, as well as in the Lankaran-Astara region.

Such weather conditions can lead to temporarily hazardous conditions on roads and in mountainous areas, particularly where heavy showers and rapidly rising water levels occur.
