Rain and snow hit Baku and Azerbaijan's regions

Rain is currently falling in Baku and the Abşeron Peninsula, while several mountainous regions of Azerbaijan are experiencing snowfall, according to the latest weather update.

The National Hydrometeorological Service released factual weather data as of 5:00 PM on February 24. According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, precipitation is being observed across various parts of the country. Rain has been reported in Balakan, Ganja, Naftalan, Shamkir, Jeyranchol, Tovuz, Shirvan, Aghsu, Qakh (Saribash), Zaqatala, Oguz, Gabala, Shamakhi, Gobustan, Tartar, Barda, Goranboy, Mingachevir, Yevlax, Goychay, Sabirabad, Neftchala, Bilasuvar, Yardimli, Lankaran, and Astara.

Snowfall is currently affecting mountainous and foothill districts, specifically Dashkasan, Gadabay, Shahbuz, Shahdag, Khinalig, Quba, Qusar, and Sheki. Due to the prevailing weather conditions, visibility on roads has been significantly reduced. Fog is being observed in Dashkasan, Goygol, Ganja, Naftalan, Balakan, Qakh (Saribash), Zaqatala, Sheki, Shamakhi, Gobustan, Qusar, Gryz, Goychay, and Lerik, with visibility limited to 200-500 meters.

The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide timely alerts for the public and transport sectors. Such weather patterns are typical for the winter season in Azerbaijan, where the diverse topography leads to varied climatic conditions, ranging from mild rain in the lowlands to heavy snow in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus mountains.
