Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix winner Rafael Câmara will compete in Formula 1 from 2027. The 21-year-old Brazilian has signed a multi-year contract with Haas and will replace Esteban Ocon, who is set to leave the team at the end of the season.
A graduate of the Ferrari Driver Academy, Câmara has competed in single-seater championships since 2022. He won the Formula Regional European Championship in 2024 and the Formula 3 title in 2025.
In his debut Formula 2 season, Câmara has won three feature races and finished on the podium four more times. He leads the standings by seven points over his closest rival, Nikola Tsolov.
Câmara called his move to Haas an important step in his career and thanked team owner Gene Haas, team principal Ayao Komatsu and the Ferrari Driver Academy for their confidence in him. Komatsu highlighted the driver’s pace at the Monaco and Montreal rounds, as well as his performance in testing in Portimao in August.
Câmara won the Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku in September. Haas’s other driver, Oliver Bearman, is expected to retain his seat with the team.
