Parliament has approved changing the names of two municipalities in Quba and the settlements they cover.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that amendments to the “List of municipalities in the Republic of Azerbaijan,” an annex to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Territories and Lands of Municipalities, were discussed at today’s plenary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) during its autumn session.
Under the draft amendments, the Timiryazev-Alekseyevka municipality will be renamed the Bahreli-Chinarly municipality. The Vladimirovka municipality is proposed to be renamed the Elbir municipality.
The document also changes the names of the corresponding settlements covered by those municipalities.
Following discussion, lawmakers put the document to a vote and approved it in a single reading.
On May 12 this year, the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) passed a law renaming several administrative-territorial units in Quba district. Under the law, Alekseyevka village, within the Alekseyevka village administrative-territorial district, was renamed Chinarly, while Timiryazev village was renamed Bahreli. The Alekseyevka village administrative-territorial district was also renamed the Chinarly village administrative-territorial district.
