Qarabagh FC has finalized its latest transfer, strengthening its squad ahead of the upcoming season.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Aghdam-based club, negotiations with the Portuguese side Portimonense have concluded successfully, resulting in the transfer of Samuel Lobato to Qarabagh.
The 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the Azerbaijani champions. He will wear the number 28 jersey for the team. Having played for Portimonense since 2025, this move marks Lobato's first experience playing for a foreign club outside of Portugal. A product of the Sporting CP academy, where he trained from 2015 to 2021, Lobato has also previously featured for Famalicao, B SAD, and Tondela.
This signing is part of Qarabagh's ongoing efforts to bolster their roster during the summer transfer window. Lobato becomes the third new addition to the squad, following the previously confirmed arrivals of Jali Mauddib and Zakaria Savo. Qarabagh, a perennial participant in UEFA club competitions, continues to focus on international recruitment to maintain its competitive edge in both the Azerbaijan Premier League and European tournaments.
