Putin and Pashinyan discuss bilateral ties in phone call

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have discussed the development of bilateral relations during a telephone conversation, Operative Information Center-OMM reports citing the Kremlin's press service.

According to the official statement, the call took place at the initiative of the Armenian side. "Various aspects of the further development of bilateral relations were discussed, including cooperation in the trade-economic, energy, and transport sectors," the report noted. The leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level dialogue to address regional challenges and strengthen economic integration.

The conversation comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilize the South Caucasus region following the full restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty over its territories. Russia has historically acted as a key mediator in regional affairs and remains a major economic partner for Armenia, particularly in the energy sector where it supplies the bulk of the country's natural gas and manages significant infrastructure projects.
