In Azerbaijan, 93.6 percent of respondents have expressed a positive assessment of the President's performance, according to recent data.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Media Development Agency (MEDIA), reports that these findings are the result of a public opinion survey conducted in the first half of 2026. The study aimed to gauge public sentiment regarding the activities of President Ilham Aliyev and to analyze ongoing trends in domestic political support.
The survey results demonstrate a high level of public backing for President Ilham Aliyev's political leadership and strategic initiatives. According to the data, the level of trust in the President stands at 87.7 percent, confirming that approximately nine out of every ten citizens in the country express confidence in his leadership.
Furthermore, the survey highlights that 93.6 percent of respondents view the President's performance positively. Analysts note that one of the strongest indicators of this support is reflected in electoral behavior; if presidential elections were held this coming Sunday, 91.5 percent of those surveyed indicated they would vote for President Ilham Aliyev.
"The analysis of the survey results shows that the high level of trust in the President is formed not only by the head of state's reputation but also against the backdrop of maintaining internal stability in the country," the report stated. "In this sense, the President is considered a unifying figure within the framework of national interests and is viewed as an irreplaceable leader in terms of stability—81.9 percent of respondents accept President Ilham Aliyev as an irreplaceable political leader. This approach is observed across all socio-demographic groups participating in the survey, with an upward dynamic recorded compared to previous periods."
The public opinion survey was conducted between May 20 and May 30, 2026, using face-to-face interviews. A total of 1,210 respondents aged 18 and older participated. The distribution of respondents by gender, age group, education level, and economic region was determined proportionally to official statistical indicators, ensuring representativeness across the population. The margin of error is +/- 3 percent.
Public opinion polling in Azerbaijan serves as a critical tool for the government to assess the effectiveness of its socio-economic policies and national development strategies. These periodic assessments provide insight into the public's perception of the country's trajectory, particularly regarding the ongoing reconstruction and development efforts in the Garabagh region and the broader strengthening of the Republic of Azerbaijan's international standing.
