President Ilham Aliyev visited the village of Boyuk Galadarasi in the Shusha district on May 28 to inspect the progress of reconstruction efforts and meet with residents who have returned to their homes.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, Aydin Karimov, briefed the head of state on the ongoing infrastructure projects and the restoration of residential buildings in the village.

Boyuk Galadarasi, which falls under the administrative territory of the Galadarasi village in the Shusha district, was liberated from Armenian occupation during the anti-terror operation conducted by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in 2023. Since the liberation, the government has implemented comprehensive measures to restore the village, including the installation of new electrical lines, gas supply networks, and water distribution systems. Additionally, internal roads have been improved, and a new park and Flag Square have been established for the residents.

During the visit, President Ilham Aliyev engaged with local residents, including Akif Gahramanov, at their homes. The President emphasized that the restoration of these lands is a top priority for the state, noting that the return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their native lands is a testament to the nation's resilience and the success of the "Great Return" program. The President highlighted that the infrastructure being built is designed to ensure a high quality of life for the returnees, integrating modern living standards with the historic character of the region.

The village currently consists of 50 individual houses, with 17 already restored in the first phase and 20 more planned for the next stage. The initial group of 64 residents, comprising 14 families, has already returned to the village.
