The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, is the world's foremost arena for examining one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change, and policies. Azerbaijan has recently increased its active involvement in global urban initiatives, having hosted the National Urban Forum and consistently advocating for the "Sustainable Development Goals" through large-scale reconstruction projects in the liberated territories of Garabagh and East Zangazur.
