President Ilham Aliyev receives Kazakh ministers in Baku

President Ilham Aliyev received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, and the Minister of Transport, Nurlan Sauranbayev, on April 8 in Baku.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in a spirit of cooperation and brotherhood. The head of state noted that mutual visits, discussions held during these visits, and decisions adopted, as well as delegation exchanges at various levels, have brought the two nations closer and strengthened the potential for mutual activity.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that the capabilities of the joint investment fund would be fully utilized, highlighting that several projects are already in the development stage. He also touched upon the potential for Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to make joint investments in third countries. The head of state expressed confidence that the visit of the Kazakh ministers to Azerbaijan would be successful.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev conveyed the greetings of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the head of state. President Ilham Aliyev thanked him for the greetings and asked the minister to convey his own regards to President Tokayev. The guest emphasized the high level of respect held for the Azerbaijani President in Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties noted the successful development of relations in various fields, including politics, economy, transport, logistics, investments, energy, and green energy. They emphasized the significant opportunities for further expanding cooperation. The discussions also covered the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), the Trans-Caspian Green Energy Corridor, and fiber-optic cable projects, highlighting the successful collaboration between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in these frameworks.

The meeting also addressed the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the role of regional transport links in fostering cooperation. Furthermore, the successful partnership between the two countries within international organizations was emphasized, and an exchange of views took place on other matters of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan share a deep historical and cultural bond, both being Turkic-speaking nations and key players in the Caspian region. In recent years, the strategic partnership has intensified, particularly through the development of the Middle Corridor, which aims to connect China and the European Union via Central Asia and the South Caucasus, bypassing traditional northern routes. This cooperation is central to Azerbaijan's strategy of becoming a regional logistics and energy hub.
