President Ilham Aliyev meets with Bulgarian President in Munich

President Ilham Aliyev met with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliana Iotova, in Munich on February 14 to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties and strategic cooperation between the two nations.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the meeting, President Iliana Iotova recalled her participation in the Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in Azerbaijan. She expressed her deep appreciation for Azerbaijani culture, noting that the traditions of the Novruz holiday and the art of Mugham music left a lasting impression on her.

President Iotova expressed her gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for its support in restoring the "Trapezitsa" Architectural Museum Reserve in Bulgaria. She also thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the attention shown to Bulgarian culture and the teaching of the Bulgarian language in higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, both leaders welcomed the recent signing of a cooperation agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo regarding the establishment and reconstruction of "Shusha" Park in the city of Veliko Tarnovo.

The meeting also covered expanding cooperation in energy, electricity exports, agriculture, tourism, and collaboration within international organizations. The Bulgarian side's support for the development of Azerbaijan-European Union relations was highly valued. It was noted that Bulgaria will be represented at a high level during the World Urban Forum, which Azerbaijan is set to host in May this year.

Azerbaijan and Bulgaria maintain a strategic partnership, particularly strengthened by the Southern Gas Corridor, which plays a vital role in Europe's energy security. The cultural exchange initiatives, spearheaded by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, continue to serve as a bridge between the two nations, fostering deeper humanitarian and social ties alongside economic and political cooperation.
