President Ilham Aliyev meets Vitol CEO in Davos

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Russell Hardy, the Chief Executive Officer of Vitol, in Davos on January 21.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, information was provided on the oil strategy implemented in Azerbaijan, and the country's role in ensuring the energy security of Europe was highlighted. In this regard, the supply of Azerbaijani gas to several European countries, including a number of European Union member states, was emphasized.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues regarding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the company. Vitol, headquartered in Rotterdam, is one of the world's leading oil trading companies. Founded in 1966, the Vitol Group is ranked among the world's three major crude oil brokerage firms.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, an annual gathering that brings together global political and business leaders to discuss pressing international issues. Azerbaijan has consistently utilized the Davos platform to strengthen its economic ties and showcase its growing importance as a reliable energy partner for the West, particularly through the Southern Gas Corridor initiative.
