Azerbaijan has solidified its position as a pivotal player on the global energy stage, significantly contributing to international energy security through strategic infrastructure projects.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Islamic Development Bank Group's 2026 Annual Meetings held in Baku. President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan has successfully hosted numerous international events, underscoring the country's multifaceted global agenda.
"All this demonstrates that our agenda is diverse. The country is recognized as the author and implementer of large-scale energy initiatives. Azerbaijan has acted as the initiator and executor of major energy infrastructure projects in the Eurasian region. Azerbaijan has provided support to countries in need of energy resources. Especially in the current period, when the security and sustainability of energy supply routes are of great importance, this role comes to the fore. Energy security is one of the most important criteria for all countries today," the President stated. Azerbaijan's role as a reliable energy partner has grown significantly in recent years, particularly through the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor, which delivers natural gas from the Caspian region to European markets, thereby diversifying energy supplies and enhancing regional stability.
