The United Nations (UN) played no role in the implementation of the four UN Security Council resolutions regarding the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. Azerbaijan independently restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this statement was made by President Ilham Aliyev during his address at the high-level meeting held in the "SCO Plus" format.

"The four UN Security Council resolutions adopted in 1993 were implemented 30 years later - three years ago. However, unfortunately, the UN played no role in the implementation of these resolutions. Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity independently," the head of state declared.

President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the urgent need to develop appropriate mechanisms that would ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions within a short timeframe. "If implemented, the authority of the UN will rise, and the organization's role in conflict resolution will be strengthened," the President of Azerbaijan noted.

The UN Security Council resolutions, adopted in 1993, demanded the immediate, full, and unconditional withdrawal of all occupying forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. For nearly three decades, these documents remained unfulfilled, a period during which Azerbaijan consistently criticized the international community for its failure to enforce international law and for applying double standards regarding the Garabagh conflict.
