President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the Orthodox Christian community of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holy holiday of Easter.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state extended his best wishes for happiness and tranquility to all Christian citizens of the country. In his message, the President highlighted that the atmosphere of tolerance that has prevailed in Azerbaijan for centuries has played an exceptional role in establishing exemplary and harmonic social relations between various peoples and faiths.
"We value the ethnocultural diversity, national-spiritual values, and multicultural traditions that have historically formed in our society as a unique asset of our modern statehood," President Ilham Aliyev stated. He further noted that the provision of democratic-legal principles in Azerbaijan creates extensive opportunities for everyone, regardless of language, religion, or ethnic origin, to preserve their traditions, language, and culture. The President also expressed satisfaction with the active participation of Christian citizens in the socio-political and socio-cultural life of the country, contributing to the comprehensive development of the independent state.
Azerbaijan is internationally recognized as a global center for multiculturalism and interfaith dialogue. The country hosts numerous international forums, including the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, and maintains a state policy dedicated to preserving the heritage of all religious denominations. Easter, symbolizing revival and compassion, is celebrated annually at the state level in Azerbaijan, reflecting the nation's commitment to religious freedom and the peaceful coexistence of its diverse population.
