President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of Greece, Konstantinos Tasoulas, on the occasion of the country's national holiday.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Azerbaijani leader expressed his best wishes to the Greek President and the people of Greece on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan.
"I believe that the relations between Azerbaijan and Greece will continue to develop in the spirit of friendship and cooperation in accordance with the interests of our peoples," the letter stated. President Ilham Aliyev also wished President Tasoulas robust health and success in his endeavors, as well as peace and prosperity to the Greek people.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Greece were established in 1992, and the two nations have since maintained a steady partnership, particularly in the energy sector. Greece plays a significant role as a gateway for Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is a key component of the Southern Gas Corridor. This strategic cooperation contributes to the energy security of the European Union and strengthens the bilateral ties between Baku and Athens.
