Azerbaijan's abundant renewable energy potential creates vast opportunities for the realization of long-term strategic goals in the field of "green energy."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev noted this in his address to the participants of the "Baku Energy Week." The head of state emphasized that the implementation of large-scale "green energy" projects in collaboration with international energy companies, alongside the expansion of natural gas export geography, further strengthens the country's role as a reliable and strategic partner in the global energy system.
"The fact that Azerbaijan holds a leading position in the World Economic Forum's report on energy transition demonstrates that this is highly valued at the international level," the President stated.
President Ilham Aliyev further emphasized that realizing the existing potential in the renewable energy sector and expanding "green energy" capabilities are key strategic objectives for the upcoming period. "This approach marks the beginning of a qualitatively new stage in the energy system. In this phase, the main priorities, alongside the efficient management of energy resources, are the development of renewable energy sources, the acceleration of the transition to 'green energy,' and the application of modern technologies," he added.
The President highlighted that the successful implementation of the "green energy zone" model within the large-scale reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories has become a cornerstone of the country's future energy strategy. This success has laid the foundation for expanding the initiative, leading to the declaration of Nakhchivan as a "green energy zone."
Baku Energy Week is a premier international event that brings together global energy leaders, government officials, and industry experts to discuss the future of the energy sector, regional cooperation, and the global transition toward sustainable energy solutions.
