Military personnel in Azerbaijan will now be equipped with personal identification tags, following a new decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this initiative was made possible through amendments to the "Statute on Military Service" and the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service." Under the new regulations, military personnel will be provided with these identification tags by the state bodies and their respective structural units where they serve. The legislation now formally incorporates the definition of "personal identification tag" and establishes the rules for its use.

Furthermore, the law has been amended to improve legal regulation regarding pre-conscription training. A new article mandates that the Cabinet of Ministers will define the regulations for organizing and implementing pre-conscription training for youth.

The President's decree instructs the Cabinet of Ministers to finalize the regulations on pre-conscription training within two months. Additionally, within six months, the Cabinet must establish the specific procedures for the issuance, description, technical characteristics, and record-keeping of personal identification tags, subsequently reporting these measures to the President of Azerbaijan.

The introduction of standardized identification tags is a significant step in modernizing the administrative and logistical framework of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Such measures align with international military standards, ensuring better personnel accountability and operational readiness within the defense sector.
