President Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the Law "On Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the amendments stipulate that the implementation and maintenance of the Energy Efficiency Information System, the creation of its subsystems, and the provision of information and awareness-raising measures in the relevant field will be financed through the Energy Efficiency Fund. Furthermore, the acquisition of software required to record operations related to the Fund's activities will also be covered by the Fund's resources.
This legislative update ensures that the necessary financial support for these initiatives is secured directly through the Fund's budget, providing a stable mechanism for long-term implementation.
The initiative is designed to foster a culture of energy conservation by promoting efficient energy usage behaviors, increasing public awareness, and implementing modern communication tools. By establishing a sustainable financial framework, the government aims to ensure the continuity of energy efficiency programs, which are critical for Azerbaijan's broader strategy of optimizing energy consumption and transitioning toward more sustainable resource management practices.
