Prezident: Azərbaycan bölgədə yaranmış vəziyyətdən narahatdır

President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Aziz Nasirzadeh, on February 6.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state emphasized that while wars and conflicts continue in many parts of the world, peace has already been established in the South Caucasus through Azerbaijan's initiative. He expressed confidence that this stability is of great importance for both Azerbaijan and Iran, which shares borders with both Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“We want peace to prevail throughout the world, for bloodshed to stop, and for there to be no more wars,” the President of Azerbaijan stated, highlighting that Azerbaijan serves as a model for the transition from war to peace. The head of state further noted that, as mentioned during a recent telephone conversation with the Iranian President, Azerbaijan is concerned about the current situation in the region and stands ready to provide support to alleviate existing tensions.

The meeting takes place against the backdrop of strengthening bilateral ties between Baku and Tehran, particularly in the fields of regional security and transport logistics. Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for the "3+3" regional consultative platform (involving Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Turkiye, and Iran) to ensure that regional issues are resolved by the regional countries themselves without external interference. This diplomatic engagement underscores Azerbaijan's growing role as a mediator and a stabilizing force in the broader Caspian and Caucasian geography.
