The pope specifically encouraged them to explore ways artificial intelligence could foster dialogue, reconciliation and solidarity among peoples, turning the benefits of technological innovation into instruments of peace.

Recent incidents in which AI has exceeded many expectations, along with warnings from people working in the field, have prompted calls for the technology’s development to be slowed and more tightly regulated.
