During an operation conducted against the illicit drug trade in Jalilabad, a previously convicted individual was found in possession of a large quantity of narcotics, totaling 17 kilograms.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the operation was carried out by officers of the Jalilabad District Police Department. During the measures, 34-year-old Ziya Heydarzada, a former convict, was detained. A total of 17 kilograms of marijuana, heroin, opium, and methamphetamine were confiscated from him.
In his testimony, the detainee confessed that he had acquired the drugs with the intention of delivering them to various addresses in Baku. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fact, and by court decision, a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for the suspect.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to intensify its nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking, particularly focusing on transit routes from southern regions to the capital. Such operations are part of a broader strategic effort by the MIA to combat the spread of psychotropic substances and dismantle organized criminal networks involved in the illegal narcotics trade within Azerbaijan.
