Police arrest drug traffickers in Baku

Law enforcement agencies have conducted a successful operation in the Narimanov district of Baku, resulting in the seizure of over 6 kilograms of illicit substances.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), officers from the Narimanov District Police Department carried out a targeted operation against the illegal drug trade. During the operation, 27-year-old Pasha Bayramov and a 46-year-old female accomplice were apprehended. Authorities discovered more than 6 kilograms of marijuana and opium in their possession.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects intended to distribute the narcotics by placing them at various locations throughout the capital. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and both individuals have been remanded in custody by court order. Investigations into the case are currently ongoing.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan frequently conducts such operations as part of a broader, nationwide strategy to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. These efforts are critical in maintaining public safety and order across the country, with law enforcement agencies consistently monitoring high-risk areas to prevent the spread of illegal substances.
