Sabah center Nick Perkins assessed the team’s 83-100 defeat to Trabzonspor in the second round of the FIBA Basketball Champions League group stage. The American, who scored 25 points for the Baku club, said the opening minutes went poorly for his team.
Perkins said it was difficult to close the gap after the team struggled in the first seven or eight minutes. He said Trabzonspor deserved the win and stressed that Sabah needed to perform better in its next game.
The basketball player said Sabah tried to take the initiative and change the course of the game in the second and third quarters. But Trabzonspor had already found its rhythm, Perkins said, highlighting the team’s offensive potential and talented players.
Perkins said the team needed to put the defeat behind it and learn from its mistakes. Sabah will host Nanterre in two weeks.
Sabah has now lost twice in a row in Group A. The Baku side opened its campaign with an 82-73 away defeat to Lithuania’s Rytas.
