Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the possible extradition of an Azerbaijani serviceman during a briefing. He said no discussions on the matter are currently underway and Baku has made no formal extradition request.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Pashinyan did not rule out the Azerbaijani side opening a criminal case in connection with the incident.
He said he was not claiming that the serviceman would remain in Armenia permanently. Investigative measures by law enforcement agencies are continuing, he said, adding that a court will make the final decision.
Extradition is a formal legal process through which one country transfers a person to another country for prosecution or to serve a sentence. Any such decision is subject to the applicable legal procedures and review by the relevant authorities.
