The Almaty Declaration has played an important role in establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made the remarks at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
He said the Almaty Declaration, dated Dec. 21, 1991, is one of the founding documents of the CIS.
Pashinyan recalled that in 2024, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed and ratified regulations on the joint activities of the commissions addressing the delimitation of the state border between the two countries.
“These regulations became the first legally binding bilateral document concluded between independent Armenia and independent Azerbaijan. They stipulate that the respective commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan will use the Almaty Declaration as the fundamental principle in the process of delimiting the state border between the two countries,” he added.
