The death toll from a terrorist attack near a mosque in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has risen to 31.
Operative Information Center-OMM reported the development, citing Agence France-Presse (AFP), which quoted law enforcement officials.
According to the source, 16 of those killed were police officers. More than 100 people were also injured in the incident.
Law enforcement officers killed six militants during a subsequent exchange of fire with the attackers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which borders Afghanistan, has frequently faced militant attacks, particularly targeting security forces and religious sites. Pakistani authorities have continued operations against armed groups in the province.
