New judges are set to be appointed to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this matter has been included in the agenda of the plenary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) scheduled for May 26.

The proposed appointments include Sanan Mammad oglu Garayev, currently a judge of the Supreme Court of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, who is expected to be relieved of his current duties and appointed to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan. Additionally, Ilkin Gismat oglu Abdullayev, the Chairman of the Khankendi City Court, is slated for a judicial appointment to the nation's highest court of appeal.

The Supreme Court of Azerbaijan serves as the highest judicial body on civil, economic, criminal, and administrative cases. The appointment of experienced judges from regional and specialized courts is a standard procedure to ensure the efficiency of the judicial system and the protection of the rule of law in Azerbaijan. These appointments follow the constitutional framework where the Milli Majlis approves judicial candidates nominated by the President of Azerbaijan.
