Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for urgent steps to identify the creators of the documentary “NAZA” and investigate their activities.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that foreign media outlets have reported the matter.
Netanyahu said those involved in making the film had committed serious crimes related to the disclosure of classified information and had created a breach in the information security of a sensitive intelligence unit.
The Israeli prime minister claimed that the film presents a false, misleading and biased portrayal of the country and the Israel Defense Forces.
He said the documentary seriously damages Israel’s international reputation.
The documentary “NAZA” received one of the main awards at this year’s Venice Film Festival: the Special Jury Prize. The 80-minute film was screened at the festival and received a 25-minute standing ovation.
The film alleges that Israel used artificial intelligence systems in planned mass killings of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Venice Film Festival, held annually in Italy, is one of the world’s oldest international film festivals. Its awards recognize films across a range of categories, while screenings can bring international attention to the subjects they address.
