Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday ordered an intensification of military operations across the occupied West Bank following a shooting attack that killed an Israeli near an illegal settlement northwest of Ramallah, according to the source report.
The Israeli army said it had arrested a Palestinian suspected of carrying out a car-ramming attack near the illegal Neve Tzuf settlement, also known as Halamish.
Netanyahu said Israeli forces would pursue all those involved in attacks against Israelis. “We will hold them all accountable—in Gaza, in Lebanon, and in Judea and Samaria,” he said, using the biblical name for the occupied West Bank.
Reinforced forces and closures ordered
The prime minister said he had instructed the army and the Shin Bet domestic security agency to deploy reinforced forces throughout the occupied West Bank, impose closures and conduct what he described as “offensive operations” and arrests.
He also ordered authorities to immediately demolish the home of the Palestinian suspected of carrying out the attack.
Escalation since the Gaza war
Israeli forces and settlers have intensified attacks against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza war began in October 2023. The escalation has included killings and arrests of Palestinians, home demolitions and the expansion of illegal settlements.
