Nazim Sadykhov withdraws from UFC 334 with injury

Azerbaijani UFC fighter Nazim Sadykhov will not compete at UFC 334, scheduled for Nov. 14 in New York. He had been set to face Brazil’s Jefferson Nascimento at Madison Square Garden.

Sadykhov said he was injured at the start of his training camp and has been dealing with the effects for more than five weeks. The fighter had initially planned to compete despite the injury, but his opponent also withdrew from the tournament because of an injury.

“My team and I decided to inform the UFC so they would not look for a replacement for me,” Sadykhov said. He added that he would not need surgery or a lengthy recovery. The fighter plans to overcome the injury and return to competition as soon as possible.

Sadykhov last fought at a UFC event in Baku in June, losing to Brazil’s Mateus Camilo by technical knockout at 1 minute, 31 seconds of the first round.

Sadykhov has 11 wins, three losses and one draw in his professional career. His UFC record is four wins, two losses and one draw.
