Moldova condemns unauthorized drone-like aircraft flight over its territory

Moldova on Sunday strongly condemned what it described as an unauthorized flight by a drone-like aircraft near the villages of Berezlogi and Dereneu. The aircraft was reportedly involved in an explosion in midair.

The Foreign Ministry called the incident an “unacceptable violation” of Moldova’s airspace and said it posed a direct threat to the security and safety of citizens, according to a statement published on Telegram.

“The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns such incidents and reiterates that the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and airspace must be fully respected,” the ministry said.

Moldova reports repeated sightings

The ministry did not identify the aircraft’s origin or say who operated it.

Drones have been spotted in Moldovan airspace for three consecutive days. On Friday, suspected drone fragments were found near Colonita, in the Chisinau municipality.

On Saturday, Moldova’s Border Police reported several unidentified aircraft flying near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. It said, however, that no fragments or signs of an explosion had been found on Moldovan territory.
