Today marks the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from the occupation of Armenian-Dashnak forces.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the statement on its account on “X.”
The ministry said that the liberation of Baku 108 years ago by the Caucasian Islamic Army, which included the Azerbaijan Corps, marked an important turning point in Azerbaijan’s struggle for statehood.
"This historic Victory demonstrated the Azerbaijani people’s determination for independence and statehood, as well as the unity, courage and sacrifice of our people and their allies. We respectfully and gratefully honor the memory of all the heroes who gave their lives for this historic Victory," the statement said.
The liberation of Baku took place on Sept. 15, 1918, during the final stage of World War I. The operation involved Azerbaijani and Ottoman forces and played a significant role in strengthening the foundations of Azerbaijan’s statehood.
