England's Manchester City is taking significant steps toward signing Newcastle defender Tino Livramento during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that journalist Kieran Morrison of Football Insider shared this information, citing insights from former Everton CEO Keith Wyness.

During an appearance on the "Inside Track" podcast, Keith Wyness indicated that negotiations between the two clubs have likely already commenced:

"Yes, without a doubt. As far as I am aware, this is accurate. I spoke with an agent who confirmed this transfer is set to happen. A substantial fee in the region of £70 million is expected. I believe he is a very suitable player for Manchester City."

Wyness added that the potential sale would significantly assist Newcastle in improving its financial standing and adhering to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). While the club's management has not officially announced a readiness to sell the player, financial pressures and the possibility of missing out on European competition next season may dictate Livramento's future.

The move comes as Manchester City looks to bolster its defensive options under Pep Guardiola. Livramento, 21, has gained a reputation as one of the most promising full-backs in the Premier League since joining Newcastle from Southampton. His versatility and pace are seen as ideal attributes for City's tactical system, which often requires defenders to contribute heavily to the build-up play and attacking phases.
