Man arrested for cultivating cannabis in Agsu

Police officers in the Agsu district have detained a 51-year-old man, identified as Amil Nagiyev, on suspicion of cultivating narcotic plants. The suspect, who has a prior criminal record, was apprehended following an operation conducted by the Agsu District Police Department.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officials discovered cannabis plants at the suspect's residence. During questioning, the detained individual admitted to providing specialized agrotechnical care to the narcotic plants.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The court has subsequently ordered a pre-trial detention measure against Nagiyev as the investigation continues.

The cultivation of narcotic plants is a serious offense under the criminal code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts such operations across the country to combat drug trafficking and illegal cultivation, reinforcing national efforts to maintain public safety and uphold the rule of law.
