Liechtenstein national team head coach Konrad Fünfstück assessed his side’s performance at a news conference after its UEFA Nations League match against Azerbaijan. He said it was his first visit to Azerbaijan and that he was pleased with the conditions provided for his team, thanking the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA).
Fünfstück said a national team from a country with a population of 40,000 could not have been the favorite. He said Azerbaijan’s national team was worth 20 million. The coach added that his team was returning home happy, while stressing that it still needed to improve.
The Liechtenstein coach said he was satisfied with his team’s last three matches. He said the side had defended well and created scoring opportunities in the game.
“We are happy with every point we earn. We need to improve and play better. We will focus on the upcoming matches and do our best,” Fünfstück said.
Liechtenstein is one of Europe’s smallest countries by population, and its national team competes in UEFA’s Nations League alongside teams from across the continent. The competition provides national teams with fixtures grouped by level and offers a route to promotion between divisions.
