Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, visited the "Yashil Chay" (Green Tea) farm located in the Istisu settlement during her trip to Lankaran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Leyla Aliyeva familiarized herself with the farm's operations, the tea varieties cultivated there, and the products manufactured on-site.
It was noted that the farm plays a significant role in preserving the traditional tea-growing culture of Lankaran, promoting local production, and encouraging ecological agriculture.
Participating in the tea harvest alongside the farm workers, Leyla Aliyeva engaged in a warm conversation with them, inquiring about their daily work processes and activities on the farm. Commemorative photos were taken during the meeting.
The owner of the farm, Araz Yagubov, stated that the enterprise, established in 2006, covers a total land area of more than 100 hectares, with 55 hectares dedicated to tea plantations. It was emphasized that ecological agriculture contributes to environmental protection, the development of local production, and the increase of employment in the region. The farm's potential as an agrotourism destination was also highlighted.
Lankaran is historically renowned as the center of Azerbaijan's tea industry. The revival of tea cultivation in this region is a key component of the government's strategy to boost the non-oil sector and enhance agricultural productivity in southern Azerbaijan.
