Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics has congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the progress regarding the peace agreement with Armenia, emphasizing its significance for international security.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, President Rinkevics made these remarks during a joint press statement with President Ilham Aliyev on April 22, as part of his official visit to Azerbaijan. The Latvian leader expressed his hope for the final signing of the document in the near future, noting that such a development would be a landmark event not only for the region but for the entire world.
During the high-level meeting in Baku, the two leaders held extensive discussions on regional processes and bilateral cooperation. President Rinkevics specifically highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic role in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the development of energy corridors, describing these initiatives as vital for the interests of both Latvia and the European Union.
