Employees of the State Customs Committee’s Main Customs Department for Air Transport have prevented the illegal import of medicines into Azerbaijan following coordinated operational and customs control measures.
“Operative Information Center-OMM”, citing the committee, reports that an Azerbaijani citizen arriving on an Istanbul-Baku flight was directed from the “Green Channel” to the “Red Channel” while leaving the customs zone. The passenger’s hand luggage and baggage were scanned using a stationary X-ray machine.
As the scan showed suspicious images, customs officials conducted a detailed inspection of the hand luggage and baggage. They found 16,036 units of 36 types of medicines that had not been declared to customs.
An investigation into the case is underway.
