Barcelona midfielder Lamine Yamal scored from a free kick against Feyenoord in the opening round of the Champions League league phase.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the 19-year-old winger found the net late in the second half against the Dutch club. According to Opta, Yamal’s goal saw him surpass the record previously held by Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler.
Yamal became the youngest La Liga player to score from a free kick in the Champions League.
Barcelona, managed by Hansi Flick, defeated Feyenoord 5-1. The Catalan side will face Galatasaray away in the second round of the tournament.
The Champions League league phase features 36 teams, with each club playing eight matches against different opponents. The top teams advance directly to the knockout stage, while others compete in a playoff round for a place in the last 16.
