Kür goalkeeper backs team to continue European Cup success

Anastasiya Khlebalova, goalkeeper for Azerbaijan’s women’s handball team Kür, has commented on the team’s advance to the next round of the EHF European Cup. She said she had tried to help her side in its 39-13 victory over APOEL.

Khlebalova said more experienced goalkeeper Madina Musayeva had supported her. Musayeva offers advice both on the court and from the substitutes’ bench, and helps her review and analyze matches, Khlebalova said. She added that the two teammates had developed a close relationship.

“I very much hope and believe that our team will maintain the same level in the next rounds. I will work harder personally and do my best to help my team,” Khlebalova said.

The Mingachevir side played both matches against APOEL at home and won both: the first ended 40-18 and the second 39-13. Kür’s opponent in the next round will be determined in the draw on October 13. Third-round matches are scheduled for November 7-8 and 14-15.
